Areas of your templates defined as text areas allow you to enter and format text. Enter text by simply typing in the input area. Different formatting options will appear in the toolbar depending on how the template field has been defined (single-line no formatting, multi-line no formatting, simple formatting, standard formatting, advanced formatting, or URL with validation, as described in the Templates section.)

Single-line, multi-line and URL text type fields do not allow any text formatting. Any white space at the beginning or end of content inserted into these template fields will be removed. URL type fields will be validated to meet URL standards, and must begin with mailto:, http://, https://, or ftp://.

Simple, standard, and advanced formatting text fields offer additional formatting options to the user creating a mailing.

  • Simple formatting allows administrators to enter text with basic formatting (bold, italics, underline, superscript, etc.); hyperlinks can also be inserted.
  • Standard formatting allows the same text editing options as simple formatting but with these additional formatting options: text alignment, bullets and numbering, horizontal rules, indent, outdent, and predefined links.
  • Advanced formatting allows the same text editing options as standard formatting but with these additional formatting options: font face, font size, foreground & background color, style editing, tables, image manager and document manager.

You can modify your text in formatting text fields (simple, standard and advanced formatting) using the buttons and dropdown items in the toolbar at the top of the editing window. Read more about Rich Text Editing.

Once you are satisfied with your changes, you can click the "Save" link to save your changes and close the window. If you want to exit the window without saving your changes, simply click the "Cancel" link. To make the text for the currently selected template section "dynamic" (Segment-specific), or to specify text for the Online Version of your mailing, click the "Make Dynamic" link. For more information on creating dynamic content, please read the section title Adding Dynamic Content.
